Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia

June 5 @ 1:00 pm

Contrary to popular belief, dementia is not a specific disease. It’s a descriptive term for a group of symptoms that can be caused by a number of brain disorders, the most common of which is Alzheimer disease. Because symptoms occur gradually and can vary by type, most people are in the middle stages of the disease before a proper diagnosis is made—and early diagnosis is extremely vital. Carlos Silva, Educator for the Alzheimer/Dementia Support Center, will provide insights on the early symptoms of dementias and their effects to the individual and caregiver. He’ll also cover proper care giving techniques and tools to help all involved traverse the dementia journey.
